Nicholas L. Reding

Retired Vice Chairman, Monsanto

As the inaugural board chairman of Nidus since its inception in 1999, Nick Reding has been instrumental in establishing Nidus as a leader in plant and life science entrepreneurship.  His guidance and leadership over the past ten years has laid the foundation for future success of the organization.

Prior to joining Nidus as Chairman of the Board, Reding had an impressive 40-plus year career with Monsanto Company, where he served as President of Monsanto Agricultural Company and finally in the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Monsanto, from which he retired in 1998.  Reding also served as Chairman of The Keystone Center, and of the Missouri Botanical Gardens and continues to serve on all three boards.  Reding is a retired director of several publicly traded companies including International Multifoods Corporation, CPI Corporation, Meredith Corporation and Monsanto Company.  Additionally, he has provided leadership to community organizations including the St. Louis Symphony, the St. Louis Zoo, Children’s Hospital and educational institutions Mary Institute Country Day School, University of Missouri in St. Louis, Webster University and Central Methodist University.
