At the Association of University Technology Manager (AUTM) Annual Meeting in Anaheim CA, Nidus founding partner Duke Leahey, along with Ashok Choudhury at Vanderbilt University will present methods for performing internal due diligence on new technology disclosures to determine if an invention is a viable candidate for starting a new company. The session on March 15, 2012 will include benchmarks for each of the major areas of risk (risk towers would include technology, intellectual property, research team, target market, and regulatory requirements) and how to lower the risk in each of these critical areas so the non-profit owner can maximize the value of their contribution to the new enterprise. In addition, Duke will discuss his personal valuation theory developed in the 1980’s referred to as the “contribution” valuation model in the context of starting a company, which is quite different from the standard valuation models and does not use NPV modeling.
